ISU Arkansas – Night One

ISU vs. University of Arkansas

 

The Illinois State DI team was still looking for its first win on home ice, but fell two points short to the University of Arkansas Friday night at the Pepsi Ice Center.

 

Both teams came off the benches ready to play. With about three minutes into the first period, University of Arkansas J. Foskey, was sent to the penalty box for tripping ISU Redbird W. Whalen.

 

As the game was gradually becoming more intense, ISU Luke Morin tripped Arkansas and was sent to the penalty box.

 

About eight minutes in, Arkansas M. Tallo’s shot got past the Redbird goalie making the score 1-0. As the Redbirds were struggling with defense, Arkansas had too many men on the ice.

Redbird’s offense was getting stronger and University of Arkansas was penalized with delay game, giving the, Redbirds senior Jeremy Gaddo buried a penalty shot, making the score 1-1.

The first period ended with the Redbirds outshooting Arkansas 15-4.

 

The second period started very aggressively between Arkansas and the Redbirds. ISU freshman Dan Addie and Mason Rosenberg were sent to the penalty box, along with Arkansas J. Froskey. With Arkansas being up one man, Arkansas R. Machos scored, making the game 1-2.

 

Later in the second period, Redbirds took a couple penalties, but still played strong. Continuing into the last period, ISU got two men thrown in the box and and let up a PP goal about two minutes into the period.

 

The Redbirds kept up offensively with Arkansas as far as shots, but weren’t able to find the back of the net.

 

The Redbirds put one more goal in but couldn’t find enough offense to come back. Arkansas scored with two minutes remaining in the third period. ISU lost 2-4.
